About Us
Owned and operated by Kristi Bertrand and her son, Josiah Bertrand, Medical Career & Technical College is a locally founded institution dedicated to providing career-focused healthcare education. With campuses in Richmond and Lexington, Kentucky, the college offers programs in Dental Assisting, Medical Administration, Medical Assisting, Medical Massage Therapy, Practical Nursing, and Veterinary Assisting.
Kristi Bertrand, who has over 30 years of experience in healthcare and education, founded the college with a vision to provide affordable, hands-on training that prepares students for careers in the medical field. Her son, Josiah Bertrand, serves as the Director of Career Services, helping students transition from education to employment by connecting them with job opportunities and industry resources.
At Medical Career & Technical College, students benefit from small class sizes, hands-on labs, externship experiences, and a unique schedule that allows them to graduate in about a year while attending class just two days a week. The college focuses on individualized instruction to ensure students leave with the skills and confidence needed for a successful career in healthcare.
Kristi and Josiah are passionate about helping students achieve their career goals and making a positive impact in the community through quality education.
I graduated in 2014 (AHIMA CCA, CBCS, MMAA) I wanted a dream job and MCTC allowed me to achieve that. I have been employed when I wanted to be employed and learning new things from different employers, which was my goal. I have been a Full-time employee with a major healthcare service for several years now. I work from home, make my own hours, with insurance, healthcare benefits and a vested interest in the company. Above the national average of per hour pay. I started as an older person in this area of the work force. Nothing comes easy for something that you want bad enough. If you’re looking for something to be handed to you this is the wrong profession. If you are looking for a trade that won’t cost a lot, less time to graduate this will allow you to achieve that. MCTC CAN DO THAT FOR YOU!
